When money conversations feel
harder than they should…
You avoid certain money topics because they turn into a fight.
One of you feels criticized, and the other feels unheard or dismissed.

You care about lots of the same things, but there’s still tension.

I’m Dee Zimmerman, a Money Coach for Couples. I help partners who have trouble talking about money without a fight understand each other better so they can work as a team.
Married for 34 years, I know that loving each other doesn’t mean you approach money the same way. I bring relationship tools and practical financial guidance to our work, helping you slow down, hear each other, and work through your differences with more understanding.
Is this right for you?
You care about each other, but talking about money keeps getting harder than you want it to be.
This session is a good fit if:
You keep circling back to the same money disagreement — money conversations bring out defensiveness, frustration, or the urge to avoid the subject altogether — you wish your partner understood where you’re coming from, and you’re willing to understand their side too — and you’d like focused help without committing to a longer coaching program right now.
You don’t need to agree before we meet. You both just need to be willing to listen and get curious.

FAQs
Do we both need to participate?
Yes. This session is for the two of you together. You don’t need to feel equally comfortable talking about money, but both of you need to be willing to participate, listen, and consider each other’s perspective.
What do we need to do beforehand?
Each of you will complete a Money Wiring assessment and a brief reflection separately. You don’t need to gather financial statements or prepare a budget.
Will we resolve our money disagreement?
We’ll explore one recurring difference and what may be underneath it. You may find a way forward, but reaching a decision isn’t required for the session to be useful. Understanding each other better and practicing a different way to talk can help you approach the issue more productively afterward.
Will we talk about our numbers?
Specific numbers may come up as we explore your money difference, but we won’t review your full financial picture or create a plan. If you’d like to look at your numbers together, understand where you stand, and decide what to do next, explore the Financial Mapping Session.
Is this couples therapy?
No. I’m a couples coach, not a licensed therapist. This session offers education and guided practice around money conversations and is not a substitute for couples therapy. If your concerns extend into long-standing, deeper relationship issues, a licensed couples therapist may be a more appropriate source of support.
What if we need help afterward?
You’ll receive personalized follow-up with key insights and something to practice together. If deeper work would be helpful, I’ll share what that could look like. There’s no obligation to continue into ongoing coaching.
