It’s Your Time in the Market That Matters

You and your partner have a vision for the future.

(If you don’t, please make every effort to start talking about, and sharing, that vision with one another.)

You’re working hard to achieve those dreams.

But I know you worry. It’s hard enough mastering the things you can control. And then, there are things that are out of your control.

Like the market.

I was catching up with a friend recently, talking about everything under the moon. Eventually, we started talking about recent government moves and their potential impact on market performance. She and her husband were worried.

I’m not.

Are you?

In my friend’s case, they have a financial advisor who can help them stay the course (they have one for that very reason—not to react emotionally to the market).

But for those of you doing it alone, which most of you can (and I hope you will!), I want you to have very little worry about investment performance.

Here are three reasons why that’s possible:

1:

No matter who's in the White House—Democrat or Republican—the stock market trends upward over time.

2:

No matter the market’s short-term volatility (often due to economic uncertainty), if you’re invested simply and wisely, your investments will grow.

3:

No matter the market’s bear and bull markets (longer swing periods), you’re in this for the long haul.

Dear Investor,

You’re a Saver. You’re not a Retiree needing to time withdrawals (and even then, with cash reserves, you can still consider most of your investments long-term).

So breathe.

→ Have an educated and simple investment approach (one you can totally do on your own). Check this out!

→ Focus more on the personal financial moves you can make to actually save more.

→ Balance those savings with enjoying life together, now.

→ Let the market do its thing.

It’s your time in the market that matters.
