Good News! More Than They Realized

Open arched doorway with warm sunlight and a garden beyond, symbolizing financial options, possibility, and a clearer path forward.

Sometimes the most powerful thing your money can give you is options.

Last week I asked whether you know where your current financial path is taking you.
This week, I want to tell you what happened when one of my clients finally saw it.

This couple has worked hard. They’ve saved consistently. They’ve invested. They’ve avoided debt and made a lot of good financial decisions along the way. But they hadn’t really stopped to see what all of that had become

So I pulled the numbers together.

When I looked at what they'd already built, my first reaction was, “Oh my goodness.” They'd created a lot more financial strength than they realized. So I shared with them what their current savings and investments could become over time if they invested wisely (you know, the boring way) and allowed their money to grow.

The answer surprised them.

They've  already built enough that time and compounding will do most of the future work. That mattered... because this couple is dealing with some hard decisions—one of them has been carrying an unsustainable workload, and stepping away from part of that work would mean a major drop in income.

That felt scary to them. It would for all of us. But once we saw what the numbers were doing for them, they were no longer asking, “Can we afford for this income to go away?” but “What's the best way to move forward with this?"

That’s huge.

What they had already built was giving them options.

At the end of our session, one of them said something like, “It’s really good to know that if we need to, we can pull back and still thrive.”

That was the moment for me. Not because the numbers were impressive, but because the numbers gave them breathing room.

And I'll admit, this conversation left me feeling really good about the work I do. Because sometimes financial clarity is not about squeezing more out of a budget or telling someone to... save more. Sometimes it’s helping people see what they’ve already built, and realize they have more choices than they thought.

It also reminded me of something. I spend a lot of time helping couples with communication and partnership. All of that matters, but for some couples, bringing the numbers into the conversation sooner really helps create hope and reduce fear.

So maybe this is a good question for you too: Do you know what you’ve already built?

Not just what’s sitting in the accounts today, but what it could become... and what options it may already be creating in your life.

Next week, we'll take this one step further: seeing where your current path is taking you matters, but so does deciding where you actually want to go!

See you then…
